The most frequently asked questions (FAQ) regarding Adult ROP Training Programs.

Q. I'm interested in taking an ROP Career Technical Training course, who is eligible to apply for your training?

A. ROP offers fee-based Career Technical Training programs and they are available to all adults. We do recommend that you have a High School Diploma or GED prior to starting your training.

Q. What types of Career Technical Training Programs do you offer?

A. Merced County ROP offers a wide range of Career Technical Training Programs. Among them are:

Q. What are the fees for your Career Technical Training Classes and how long is the training?

A. Adult training courses are held for 32 hours per week. Classes are typically Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. The courses range from 17 weeks to 26 weeks in length depending on the course you select. The type and length of your training also determines the fees of the course. The course fees range from $2,720.00 to $4,500.00. For current fees for each program, please contact Ellen Foster at (209) 381-4563. Our courses are also listed on the ETPL (Eligible Training Provider List), which has been approved by the State of California.

Q. I can't afford to pay for your vocational training classes, is there anyway for me to get assistance?

A. Yes, assistance may be possible. Most of our students are referred to our training programs from a variety of agencies throughout Merced County. You will need to contact the agencies to find out if you qualify for training benefits. Most of these agencies have representatives located at the Employment Resource Center. These agencies are:

Workmen's Compensation Attorneys are located throughout California and usually work with individuals who were injured on the job and need to be trained in another career field. Look in the yellow pages for an attorney in your community.

Q. Is financial aid available?

A. No, financial aid is not available however, you can make payment arrangements to pay for your training. All fees must be paid prior to completion of the training program.

Q. I want to increase my employability skills, but I work and can't attend full-time training. Are there other classes that ROP offers?

A. Yes! ROP offers a wide variety of short-term computer Night Classes for FREE. Please see our website (http://rop.mercedlearn.org/adult/courses/night) for our current schedule of classes. We offer night classes in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
