Merced County Regional Occupational Program – ROP, with the support of the Merced County P-16 Council, has implemented a Course Pairing Project.

What is Course Pairing?

Course Pairing is the integration of academics with Career Technical Education (CTE).  This is accomplished by pairing a CTE teacher with a core academic teacher.

CTE teachers and academic teachers in Merced County are integrating their curriculum to help students apply academic standards to real-world situations.  The pairing of CTE and academic courses helps CTE teachers realize the significant amount of academic knowledge and skills already embedded in their technical content area plus, with the assistance of a core academic teacher, identify areas where increased rigor is a natural fit.  Relevance is added to the core academic curriculum through real-world application providing students the opportunity to apply academics in relevant ways.  Check the Course Pairs below to view some of the work already completed by the Merced County Course Pairing Project.
