Merced County ROP

The Merced County Regional Occupational Program is a WASC accredited workplace learning program that has been in continuous operation since 1973. After basic classroom instruction, many students are placed at work sites throughout the community and are taught occupational skills by professionals in the field.

Highlights of Merced County ROP for 2006-2007

  • Served all comprehensive, continuation, and community high schools in Merced County and Chowchilla High School in
    Madera County
  • 3,194 high school and 1,319 adult students served in 2006-2007
  • 350 YOP and Empower students served through ROP in 2006-2007
  • Approximately 1,700 high school students worked in the community (53% of high school student enrollment)
  • 40 different courses offered in twelve Industry Sectors
  • Provided career exploration opportunities to 1,835 non-ROP students through Career Industry Day events.

Merced County ROP delivers innovative educational programs to high school and adult students in preparation
for 21st century careers, higher education, and life-long learning.

ROP ESLRs

All ROP courses strive to assist students to develop general workplace skills related to a particular career area so they can become:

Leadership Development

All ROP courses strive to assist students to become future leaders. Leadership training and opportunities are available to all students and include:

  • FHA-HERO - Future Homemakers of America
  • Skills USA (formerly VICA)
