Elisa Kleitman

During Elisa’s senior year of high school she enrolled in Donna Acheson’s ROP Careers in Education class. Here she really started to learn about her future profession with class work, field trips and fieldwork as well. Her second semester of her senior year she was placed on site at Stowell Elementary School in a third grade classroom. Concurrently she also enrolled at Merced Community College into the Liberal Studies 20 course. Both of these courses really let her get a feel for her future profession and reinforced her passion for teaching.

After transferring 7.5 units from Merced Community College, she enrolled into Sonoma State University in the fall of 2001. Elisa was accepted into the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies and graduated May 28, 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Mathematics. Her schooling has been specifically geared toward education and the teaching profession, concentrated to prepare her for a multiple-subject credential program. She is currently attending Fresno State University in their Early Childhood Education multiple-subject credential program. Is this program she has been able to bring a concentration in math, a basic understanding of both Spanish and American Sign Language, as well as an open mind.

Elisa future goals are to continue in the credential program at Fresno State and within a year complete her student teaching and become a credentialed teacher. She plans on continuing her education by also working toward and receiving her Master’s Degree. She looks forward to being able to touch children’s lives in her future as a teacher.
