Outstanding Students
Maria Canchola

Maria

Maria Canchola is a senior at Livingston High School and she is a success story even though she is still enrolled in Louis Randall’s Art & History of Floral Design for the second year in a row.

Maria has been an agriculture student for two years and is currently the FFA Chapter Historian. She is in charge of putting together the PowerPoint slide show that is presented at Greenhand/Chapter Banquet, Eighth Grade Recruitment and at the end of the year FFA Chapter Banquet. As a second year floral design student, she is a roll model and a great help to the students in class. She also helps coordinate floral design projects for sales to the campus and community.

Maria has also used her skills and talents to the floriculture and nursery landscape judging teams. She was one of the top floriculture team members last year and competed against students from all over the state. This year she accepted the challenge and joined the nursery landscape team since they were short a team member. She is always encouraging her fellow team members to keep trying and never give up. Last summer she and a fellow floriculture team member built the winning landscape representing local FFA chapters at the Merced County Fair.

Maria is applying to Mills College for entrance in the fall. She plans to study nursing. She is an excellent student, leader, florist, and very deserving of the honor as Livingston High School Agriculture Department’s example of success.
