2nd Quarter 2007-2008 - Dos Palos High School

Taylor Hogue
Taylor Hogue has been a student in Mrs. Nichols Careers in Education class at Dos Palos High School for two years. Taylor is interested in the field of teaching, and is using this course to decide upon her future career plans. She is currently working in a first grade classroom, with the same teacher she worked with in a Kindergarten classroom last year.
Taylor plans to attend college after graduation from high school and pursue a career in either Nursing or Education. She feels that a successful person sets goals and is driven to achieve those goals. The goals that Taylor set for herself in her ROP class this year included developing trust, respect and a friendship with her site teacher and the children. Taylor is a trusted member of the classroom she works in, has been given a great deal of responsibility within that classroom, so she is well on her way of achieving her goals for this year.
The skill that Taylor has practiced the most is patience - both with the children and the adults she works with. Taylor feels that any student with an interest in a career in teaching should take this course so they can get a feel for the classroom, to see whether they like it or not.
Mrs. Nichols chose Taylor as ROP Student of the Quarter because she has been a dedicated student in class for two years. Taylor has taken her position as a Teacher's Aide very seriously, and quickly became an indispensable part of the classroom from day one. Taylor and her site teacher have developed a special bond which allows them to work together extremely well. Because of this great working relationship, Taylor has been a tremendous role model to the other students in the Careers in Education class.
